Methode Introduces its New PowerRail™
Methode Network Bus Products and Cableco Technologies, both divisions of Methode Electronics, Inc., have combined their expertise in bus bar and power cable systems to develop the latest in power distribution technology.
PLUGGABLE RAIL POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
Rolling Meadows, IL - Methode Network Bus Products and Cableco Technologies, both divisions of Methode Electronics, Inc., have combined their expertise in bus bar and power cable systems to develop the latest in power distribution technology. The PowerRail™ is an innovative, easily installed, cost-effective evolution in blind mate high power distribution technology.
The PowerRail’s unique design integrates low voltage drop louver contacts into a bus bar. This design allows users to easily customize the bus bar length, power input and mating connections to build a cost-effective, quick disconnect power bus. The rail itself is available in single, double, or triple rail standard models and can be designed for applications requiring additional rails. Louver contacts are available in silver or tin plating. Power ranges from 200A to 2000A and runs the full length of the rail. The rail is powder coated to insulate the bar.
The interconnect system can be either another bus bar or a cable and connector system. The cable and connector system is available in one or two tab connectors. The double tab models include a polarizer feature to ensure proper connection to the rails. Bus bars can be designed according to application specifications.
The system is ideal for use in rack-mounted systems, but the list of other possible applications is extensive, including: UPS, motor drives, telecommunication switching systems and routers, blade servers, mass memory storage, and test equipment.
Features and benefits of the PowerRail include: adjustable mounting feet, low voltage drop, numerous plating options, ease of installation, high dielectric strength epoxy insulation, and maximum operating temperature of 125°C. The PowerRail has a UL94 V-0 flammability rating and is RoHS compliant.
PowerRail offers significant cost savings over traditional power distribution systems. This is due to the standard PowerRail design, simplified installation, and fewer necessary components than those required in traditional systems. Price for the PowerRail varies based on the requirements of the specific application.
